Advancing the science of dynamic airborne nanosized particles using Nano-DIHM

Studying airborne particles while they are still in the air and changing in real time is important for understanding how the atmosphere works. But normally, to take clear images of these tiny particles, scientists need to trap them first.

In this study, the authors use a special setup that combines a digital in-line holographic microscope with a flow tube. This allows them to observe and study very small particles (smaller than 200 nanometers) while they are moving, without needing any optical traps.
